Kāhuli Land Stewardship & Cultural Education
At the core of what we do is aloha ʻāina through stewarding sacred and significant ʻāina in and above the wahi pana of Waipiʻo Valley while educating kamaʻāina (residents) and malihini (visitors) of the cultural values, traditions, and history.
Beginning inside Waipi’o Valley at the Nāpoʻopoʻo village site and loʻi (taro patch) with rockwalls dating to 800 – 1,200 A.D., and now expanded to include the Koaʻekea the Waipiʻo Valley Lookout PONC parcel and Lalakea & history rich Mahiki rimlands above the valley, our stewardship is vital to the regeneration of the ʻāina and the kaiāulu (community).
Mahina ʻAi Community Feeding & Donation
Sharing the abundance of the ʻāina and supporting our community has always been central to our kuleana. From donations of kalo varieties, corm, and lau since the very beginning to supporting our community & keiki during the COVID-19 pandemic, we mālama our community.
We offer for ʻohana to kōkua on the ʻāina in exchange for plant donations. We are able to donate based on what we have available.
Ka Lau o Ke Kāhuli Workshops
Workshops on cultural practices and knowledge are offered at our sites to empower our community with the wisdom of our ancestors. Workshops have included poi board and stone workshops, mele (chant) & oli (chant), plant, lāʻau lapaʻau (traditional plant medicine), and self-defense.
