Community Feeding & Donation Program

E ʻŌPŪ ALIʻI.

Have the heart of a chief.

[Have the kindness, generosity and even temper of a chief.]

Sharing the abundance of the ʻāina and supporting our community has always been central to our kuleana. From donations of kalo varieties, corm, and lau since the very beginning to supporting our community & keiki during the COVID-19 pandemic, we mālama our community.

We offer for ʻohana to kōkua on the ʻāina in exchange for plant donations. We are able to donate based on what we have available.

If you are interested in donations for your ʻohana, please contact us or schedule a visit:

Background

From the inception of Pōhāhā I Ka Lani, providing kalo starts, lau and corms to ʻohana has been at the central to our mission. Thousands of huli (taro starts) of dozens of varieties have been shared with countless ʻohana over the years. Sharing Hāloa, the genealogical  ancestor of the Hawaiian people and the staple crop of their diets, is crucial to ensuring the future of our culture and people.

COVID-19 PANDEMIC

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Pōhāhā I Ka Lani stepped up to help our Hawaii Island residents and Native Hawaiian ʻohana with hot meals, food, plant starts, and home essentials. Partnering with the CARES ACT via the County of Hawaii, the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, and Vibrant Hawaii, Pōhāhā I Ka Lani served thousands of individuals and families.
