Land Stewardship & Cultural Education Program
HE ALIʻI KA ʻĀINA; HE KAUWĀ KE KANAKA.
The land is a chief; man is its servant.
Land has no need for man, but man needs the land and works it for a livelihood.
To turn back to ways of our ancestors, stewarding the ʻāina together for a future of abundance and reverence.
Waipiʻo Valley is one of the most famous and beloved places in Hawaiʻi. Waipiʻo Valley is often referred to as the “Valley of the Kings” because it once was the home to many aliʻi throughout generations. Ancient heiau, burial sites, and agricultural terraces can still be found there today.
The land and people thrive together. Waipiʻo Valley is home to important legends and history in Hawaiian culture, along with being an abundant source of food for the people. Pōhāhā I Ka Lani works to take care of this land imbued with culture while educating those who participate.
From K-12 school groups where it all started, to individuals, families, community organizations, colleges/universities, and visitor groups & organizations, we welcome all who would like to join us to mālama ʻāina (care for the land) and learn about the history & culture of our ancestors and Waipiʻo Valley.
