Poi Board & Stone Workshops

One of the most popular workshops we hold, each ʻohana gets to go home with a papa kuʻi ʻai (poi board) or pōhaku kuʻi ʻai (poi pounder) so that they can continue the tradition of Hāloa, letting kalo sustain their ʻohana for generations to come.

Traditional Hale Building Workshops

Master hale builders Kumu Francis Palani Sinence and Walter Wong teach how to harvest & prepare hale materials in order to construct a traditional hale.

Mele & Oli Workshops

Mele (song) & Oli (chant) workshops have been held by kumu hula and cultural practitioners to share with the community the heritage and power of our ancestors conveyed through the voice.

Native Plant Workshops

Workshops on the species, varieties, uses and cultural history of native Hawaiian plants have been held by cultural practitioners and local horticulturalists to share with the community the abundance of the ʻāina that our ancestors embodied and knew deeply.
